From Tallinn, Estonia, Roman grew up enjoying the process of writing short stories and making board games. This led to his passion for storytelling in films and video games. Roman decided to pursue a career in filmmaking and moved to London to study directing at university. During that time he discovered the power of editing and made that his life goal.

With passion for music, he likes to revise the imaginary soundtrack to a film about his life, which would mix realism of ‘Nobody Knows’ and escapist sequences from Tarsem Singh.

Miles Higginson

Growing up in North London, Miles has a deep love for music, Star Wars and Rowan’s. He fell in love with editing at around 13 after recording his gameplay on his playstation, editing it together and uploading it for the world to see on Youtube. This channel has since been made private to save him from embarrassment. Although his YouTube career didn’t blossom, he’s carried this enthusiasm for editing on and has worked his way through the ranks before joining us in early 2024. Since then he’s been honing his editing claws on music videos and ads, finding his own style.

When he’s not working with us he can be found in and around Finsbury Park with his friends and *attempting* to make music.

Growing up in Greater London, Lawrence literally skated his way into making films with friends, instilling a passion for filmmaking at a young age.

One of Lawrence’s most important influences came about by reading ‘Rebel Without A Crew’ by Robert Rodriguez, further inspiring him to be a part of the film making process.

Lawrence went on to study media production at University, and after a stint as a waiter at a pizza restaurant, he’s swapped cutting pies for cutting film at The Quarry.

Aside from editing, Lawrence has held a lifelong passion for anime, skating, and photography. Initially a metal head, Lawrence’s music taste spans genres including ambient, experimental, and chaotic jazz – the type of jazz that would soundtrack a movie based on his life – himself being portrayed by Richard Ayoade of course – consider it green lit

Henry Thackray

Henry became interested in film at a young age, creating movies with his family’s video camera, capturing the day-to-day lives of his playmobil figures. From here, he grew to become fascinated with the inner workings of filmmaking, rinsing the ‘making of’ featurettes on his Lord of the Rings DVDs.

Since joining The Quarry as a runner, Henry has worked his way up to Assistant Editor, expanding his knowledge of the craft by working on many different music videos, commercials, and even a feature or two. Henry is a big fan of directors such as Paul Thomas Anderson, and Robert Altman, with their work directly inspiring Henry’s interest in the medium of film.

In his downtime, you’ll probably find Henry at a comedy show, or a gig (it always seems to be at the MOTH Club). If you can’t find him at the MOTH Club, he’s likely knee-deep in a wikipedia rabbit hole, while Conner O’Malley’s youtube channel auto-plays in the background.
